Battery models die at the worst time, and when they do you miss the visitor and the clip. A wired one runs on house power, so it is always recording and always ready to ring. Most homes already have the wiring at the door. When it is too weak, we add a proper power supply. Homes with several floors or units usually want a full home intercom system instead.
When someone rings, the app rings your phone wherever you are. Talk to the courier, tell a visitor you are on the way, or check who was there while you were out.
