The short answer

What structured cabling includes

Structured cabling is the organized wiring that every network, camera and door system runs on. Each cable runs from a jack or device back to a patch panel in a rack, with a label at both ends and a test that proves it works. The result is a network you can trace, move and add to without calling someone to untangle it. Cabling sits under all the commercial security systems iGTD installs.

Cat6 cabling

Cat6 handles desks, phones, Wi-Fi access points and cameras. We route cable through the cleanest path, keep it away from power lines, and close up neatly behind us. Store speakers, monitors and other low voltage devices run on the same plan, and so does every camera in a security camera installation.

Network rack installation

Every run lands in a rack: wall-mounted for a small office or store, floor-standing for a building. Patch panels, cable managers and short patch cords keep the front clean, and there is space left for the gear you will add later. Your switches, recorder and door controllers all sit in one place. The controllers come from our access control installation, wired to the same rack.

  • Wall-mount and floor-standing racks
  • Patch panels and cable managers
  • Room left for future gear

Network cable cleanup

A closet full of unlabeled cable slows every fix. We trace each run, pull out the dead ones, re-terminate what needs it and label everything, so the next time something breaks it takes minutes to find. Many cleanups end with a new rack and the cameras and network gear moved into it.

  • Dead cable traced and removed
  • Every live run labeled
  • Gear re-racked and patched cleanly

Structured cabling questions

Still have a question? Call 929-299-8400.

What does structured cabling mean?

It is organized network wiring. Every cable runs from a jack or device back to a patch panel in a rack, labeled at both ends and tested, so the network is easy to trace, move and add to.

What is low voltage cabling?

Low voltage wiring carries data and small amounts of power for networks, cameras, intercoms, access control and speakers. It is separate from the building's main electrical wiring.

What is a cabling contractor?

A cabling contractor plans, pulls, terminates and tests the cable for networks and low voltage systems. iGTD Technology is a low voltage contractor and a NY State licensed security installer.

Do you do cable-only jobs?

Yes. If you already have an IT company, iGTD pulls, terminates, tests and labels the cable and hands it off ready for their gear.

How much does network cabling cost per drop?

It depends on the number of drops, the distance to the rack, the walls and ceilings and the rack work. iGTD gives you a free on-site estimate and a written price before any work starts.
