The short answer

What a security camera installation includes

A complete CCTV system, wired, recording and on your phone before we leave. We walk the property, mark where each camera goes and put the price in writing. Then we pull the cable, mount them, set up the recorder and show you how to find any clip. Cameras are one part of the commercial security systems iGTD installs, alongside access control, intercoms and cabling.

  • Dome, turret and PTZ cameras
  • Night vision
  • One cable per camera
  • Live view on your phone
  • Footage stays on site
Included in every install
  1. 01A site survey and a layout for every entrance, register and blind corner
  2. 02Hardwired units indoors and out, each on its own cable for power and video
  3. 03A recorder on site, so the footage stays in your building
  4. 04Live view and playback on your phone for owners and managers

  6. 06A walkthrough at handoff: how to watch, search and save a clip

Business camera systems for NYC properties

The layout changes with the building. These are the places we wire most.

  • Stores and restaurants

Registers, entrances, stockrooms and the sales floor.

  • Warehouses

Loading doors, yards, aisles and the shipping desk.

  • Apartment buildings

Lobbies, mailrooms, elevators, hallways and the back door.

  • Co-ops and condos

A written scope and a certificate of insurance for the board.

  • Offices

Reception, server rooms and after-hours entrances.

  • Playgrounds and gyms

Every play area covered and watched from the front desk.

Live view and playback on your phone

The recorder sits on site and stores every feed. Open the app to watch all of them at once, tap into one, or scroll back to the minute something happened. A clip exports in a few taps for the police or your insurance company. We set up the app for owners and managers before we leave.

  • Watch every view at once or one at a time
  • Search by time and export a clip
  • Separate logins for owners and managers

Elevator, lobby and mailroom cameras

Apartment buildings lose packages in the mailroom and take damage in the elevator. A corner-mount unit covers the whole elevator cab, and units in the lobby and mailroom catch faces at the door. It all records to the same recorder as the rest of the building, so the super or the managing agent can pull footage from a phone. A video intercom installation at the front door shows those faces before anyone is buzzed in.

  • Corner mounts sized for the elevator cab
  • Mailroom and package shelf coverage
  • One recorder for the whole building

Security camera repair and upgrades

Units that went dark, a recorder that stopped saving, or an old system with grainy video. iGTD repairs and upgrades camera systems, including ones another company installed. Where the existing cable is in good shape we reuse it, so an upgrade costs less than starting over. Messy closets get sorted with structured cabling on the same visit.

  • Dead units and recorders diagnosed on site
  • Old systems moved to sharp, modern cameras
  • More cameras added to the system you have
Pricing

How your system is priced

No two NYC buildings wire the same way. The free on-site survey sets the count and the cable route, and you get the price in writing before any work starts.

  • 2Type: dome, turret or PTZ
  • 3How many days of video the recorder keeps
  • 4Cable distance back to the recorder
  • 5Walls and ceilings: brick, concrete or drop ceiling

Security camera installation questions

Still have a question? Call 929-299-8400.

How much does it cost to have wired security cameras installed?

It depends on how many cameras you need, the camera type, how many days of video the recorder keeps and how far the cable runs. iGTD gives you a free on-site estimate and a written price before any work starts.

Are wired or wireless security cameras better for a business?

Wired. A hardwired camera gets power and video over one cable, so there are no batteries to change and no Wi-Fi dropouts when the network is busy. iGTD installs hardwired cameras only.

Do you need a license to install security cameras in New York?

New York State licenses installers through the Department of State. iGTD Technology is a NY State licensed security installer, and it is worth asking any installer you compare for their license.

How many security cameras does a business need?

Enough to cover every entrance, every register or cash area and any corner where someone could stand out of view. A small store often starts with four. The site survey maps the exact count for your space.

Can I watch my security cameras from my phone?

Yes. The recorder stays on site and the app lets you watch live, scroll back and export clips from anywhere. iGTD sets up the app for owners and managers at handoff.

Do you fix or upgrade cameras another company installed?

Yes. iGTD repairs dead cameras and recorders, adds cameras to existing systems and replaces old systems, including ones other installers put in.
