Access control and mag lock installation in NYC

iGTD Technology installs access control in NYC buildings: a magnetic lock on each entrance, a reader outside to open it and an exit button inside. People get in with a fingerprint, a key fob, a keypad PIN code or their phone, and you manage all of it from the cloud. Doors release on their own when the fire alarm goes off. The short answer

What access control installation includes

Each controlled entrance gets three parts. A mag lock holds it shut, a reader lets the right people in with a fingerprint, key fob or PIN code, and an exit button lets everyone out. You manage all of it from the cloud, so you add or remove a person from your phone instead of changing locks. Access control is one of the commercial security systems iGTD installs, alongside cameras, intercoms and cabling.

  • Magnetic locks
  • Biometric readers
  • Key fobs and PIN codes
  • Cloud managed, phone release
  • Fail-safe on fire alarm
Included in every install
  1. 01A walk of every entrance with your super, manager or board rep
  2. 02Mag locks sized to the opening and the frame
  3. 03A reader outside for fingerprints, key fobs or PIN codes, and an exit button inside
  4. 04Fail-safe wiring tied to the fire alarm, so doors release on alarm
  5. 05Every person, fob and code managed from the cloud and removed in seconds
  6. 06A walkthrough at handoff: add people, set hours, read the log

Mag lock installation

A mag lock is an electromagnet on the frame and a steel plate on the door. With power on, it stays shut, and nothing on the outside can be picked or pried. A fingerprint, fob or PIN code at the reader, or a press of the exit button, cuts the power and it opens. We size the lock to the door, mount it on the frame and run the cable back to the controller as part of our structured cabling.

  • Holding force matched to the opening
  • No lock cylinder to pick or key to copy
  • Clean mount on steel, aluminum or wood frames

Fingerprint, key fob and PIN code readers

Each entrance opens with a face or fingerprint scan, a key fob or a keypad PIN code, and staff can release it from a phone app when a delivery shows up. You manage all of it from the cloud: add a person, hand out a fob or set a code from anywhere. Every opening is logged, so you can see who came in and when. Add a security camera installation at the door and you see their face too. When someone leaves the job or moves out, you remove them and their fingerprint, fob and code stop working that minute.

  • Fingerprint, face, key fob or PIN code
  • Every fob and code managed from the cloud
  • A log of every entry, by person and time

Gate access control

Gates and garage entrances run on the same system as the doors. A reader at the gate, a lock or gate operator tie-in, and the same people list you already manage. Pair it with a video station and visitors can call in from the gate. We also handle the intercom installation on the gate if you want both.

  • Pedestrian gates and parking entrances
  • One people list for doors and gates
  • Gate intercom on the same install

Access control installation questions

Still have a question? Call 929-299-8400.

What does an access control system include?

On each entrance: a mag lock that holds it shut, a reader outside that opens it with a fingerprint, key fob or PIN code, and an exit button to open it from inside. You manage all of it from the cloud, where you add people, set hours and read the entry log.

How much does it cost to install an access control system?

It is priced per door. The number of doors, the door and frame type, the readers and the cable distance set the price. iGTD gives you a free on-site estimate and a written price before any work starts.

What is the purpose of a mag lock?

A mag lock holds a door shut with an electromagnet. There is no lock cylinder to pick and no key to copy. It opens when an authorized person uses their fingerprint, fob or PIN code, or when someone presses the exit button.

Does a mag lock need a power supply?

Yes. A mag lock holds only while it has power, which is why it is fail-safe. iGTD wires it to a power supply and ties it to the fire alarm, so the door releases when the alarm goes off.

Can you add access control to a gate?

Yes. Gates and garage entrances run on the same system as the doors, with a reader at the gate and the same people list you already manage.

Can we use key fobs or PIN codes instead of fingerprints?

Yes. A door can open with a fingerprint or face scan, a key fob, a keypad PIN code or the phone app. Every method is managed from the cloud, so you can hand out or cancel a fob or code from anywhere.

Can we remove someone's access right away?

Yes. You remove the person in the cloud app and their fingerprint, fob and PIN code stop working on every door that minute. There are no keys to collect.
